Berger Picards are a low-shedding breed, but they can still carry allergens in their coat and skin. Bathing can help reduce these allergens.
It's generally recommended to bathe your Berger Picard about once every 4 to 6 weeks. Bathing too frequently can strip the natural oils from their coat, causing dry skin and making allergies worse.
Use a hypoallergenic dog shampoo designed to reduce dander and allergens. These shampoos are formulated to be gentle on your dog’s skin while effectively cleaning away allergens.
Brush your Berger Picard regularly, ideally several times a week. Brushing helps remove loose fur and dander, minimizing the amount of allergens present in your home.
If your dog spends a lot of time outdoors, you might need to bathe them more often to reduce environmental allergens like pollen and dirt.
Always rinse thoroughly to ensure that no shampoo residue remains, as leftover product can irritate your dog's skin and exacerbate allergies.

To recognize a medical emergency in the case of a Berger Picard allergy, look for the following signs and symptoms:
Difficulty Breathing: Labored or rapid breathing, wheezing, or a feeling of tightness in the chest can indicate the airways are constricted.
Swelling: Noticeable swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which can obstruct airways and make breathing difficult.
Hives or Rash: Widespread, itchy hives or a rash that appears quickly after exposure to the dog.
Anaphylaxis Symptoms: Indicators of a severe, life-threatening reaction could include a drop in blood pressure, dizziness, or loss of consciousness.
Rapid Heartbeat: A suddenly increased heart rate can be a response to severe allergic reactions.
Gastrointestinal Issues: Symptoms like severe stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea may also be present in a severe allergic reaction.
In any of these cases, it is critical to seek immediate medical assistance.
