Salukis, known for their elegant appearance and graceful demeanor, are a breed that generally has low dander levels, making them relatively hypoallergenic compared to other breeds. To effectively reduce allergens, follow these guidelines for bathing your Saluki:
Regular Bathing: Aim to bathe your Saluki once every 6 to 8 weeks. Overbathing can strip their skin of natural oils, leading to dryness and potential skin issues.
Use Hypoallergenic Shampoo: Select a gentle, hypoallergenic dog shampoo to minimize skin irritation and reduce allergen levels. Harsh shampoos can exacerbate dander production.
Brush Frequently: Regular brushing, ideally several times a week, helps to remove loose fur and dead skin cells. This practice not only keeps their coat clean but also minimizes allergens.
By maintaining a consistent bathing and grooming schedule, you can effectively manage allergens and keep your Saluki's coat in optimal condition.

Difficulty Breathing: If someone is having trouble breathing, it could indicate a severe allergic reaction. Look for signs of wheezing, shortness of breath, or gasping for air.
Swelling: Noticeable swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat can be a serious sign of an allergic reaction. This can lead to difficulty swallowing and may affect breathing.
Hives and Rash: While hives and rashes are common in allergic reactions, rapidly spreading hives or rash, especially when coupled with other symptoms, can indicate a medical emergency.
Dizziness or Fainting: Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or actually fainting can occur if the body's response to the allergen is severe, sometimes indicating anaphylactic shock.
Rapid Pulse: A noticeably fast or irregular heartbeat can be a sign of anaphylaxis. This is often due to the body's heightened response to the allergen.
Vomiting or Diarrhea: Severe stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea that occurs shortly after exposure may be part of a serious allergic reaction.
Anxiety or Sense of Doom: Sometimes, an allergic person might experience a sense of impending doom or extreme anxiety, which can be indicative of a severe reaction.
Cyanosis: A blue or gray color to the skin, lips, or nails can indicate a lack of oxygen and is a serious sign that immediate medical attention is required.
