How It’s Made
Allergen selection
The allergens causing the patient's symptoms are identified through skin testing or blood testing. The physician then determines which allergens to include in the immunotherapy drops.
Dilution
The allergens are diluted to very small concentrations to ensure safety and effectiveness. This is typically done in a series of dilutions, known as "serial dilution," until the desired concentration is reached.
Mixing
The diluted allergen extracts are then mixed with glycerin to create the immunotherapy drops. Glycerin is a safe, non-toxic, and water-soluble preservative that can easily mix with other substances.
Packaging
The immunotherapy drops are then packaged into small bottles with pumps for easy administration. This process is done by a licensed pharmacy.
