Immediate Actions While Waiting for Help

 

  • If Amy has an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen), help or instruct her on how to use it immediately, following the device’s guidelines.
  • Keep her calm and seated or lying down; avoid sudden movements that might worsen her condition.
  • Loosen any tight clothing and ensure she is in a position that supports her breathing.
  • Monitor her closely; if her condition deteriorates further, be prepared to begin CPR if you are trained and necessary.

 

Post-Emergency and Follow-Up Care

 

  • Even if the symptoms subside after using epinephrine, it is critical to seek further medical evaluation immediately, as biphasic reactions can occur.
