  • If the patient experiences difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, or starts having trouble talking or loses consciousness, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately.

 

Use an Epinephrine Auto-Injector

 

  • If the person has a prescribed epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen), administer it immediately following the instructions provided.
  • This is especially critical if the person has a known severe allergy to any food, including Garden of Eatin’ Chips, or similar products.

 

Perform Basic First Aid

 

  • Help the person to sit down and try to keep them calm; anxiety can worsen an allergic reaction.
  • If the reaction is mild but symptoms progress, prepare to escalate care.

 

Monitor and Prepare for Further Intervention

 

  • Keep a close watch on the person. If symptoms persist or worsen, such as increased difficulty breathing or a drop in blood pressure, the situation is life-threatening.
  • Continue to reassure them while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.

 

Additional Considerations

 

  • If the person is alone and has a mobile phone, instruct them to call for help immediately, or have someone nearby call.
  • If you are in a public place, alert nearby individuals or security to assist until help arrives.
