  • Administer epinephrine if available: If the affected person has a prescribed epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen), use it right away. Even if symptoms seem to improve, emergency medical care is necessary, as reactions can recur.
  • Keep the person calm and in a safe position: Help them lie down with legs raised if possible, and keep them warm. Avoid letting them stand or walk, as this may worsen the reaction.

 

Post-Emergency Steps

 

  • Inform medical personnel: When help arrives, provide as much information as possible about the exposure to the allergen, the symptoms observed, and any steps already taken, including the use of an epinephrine auto-injector.
  • Follow-up care: Even if symptoms improve, it is important to be evaluated in a medical facility, as secondary reactions (biphasic anaphylaxis) can occur.
