What is Pedialyte: Overview

Artificial Colors

  • This ingredient contains food dyes that are sometimes added for an appealing appearance. Some individuals, especially children, may have sensitivities that lead to mild allergic reactions.

Artificial Flavors

  • These are chemically derived taste enhancers used to simulate natural flavors. Although generally safe, they can trigger reactions in those sensitive to synthetic additives.

Preservatives (Sodium Benzoate)

  • Sodium benzoate is used to extend shelf life and prevent the growth of bacteria. In rare cases, it may cause allergic responses or skin irritations in susceptible individuals.

Dextrose (Potentially Corn-Derived)

  • Dextrose is a form of sugar often sourced from corn. For individuals with corn allergies, even trace amounts in dextrose can pose a potential risk.

Citric Acid

  • Used to balance pH and improve flavor, citric acid is generally safe but has been known in rare cases to cause irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

Natural Flavors

  • Natural flavors are derived from food sources but can sometimes contain trace allergens. Sensitive individuals may react if they are allergic to the specific source ingredients used.

Pedialyte Allergy Emergency: What to Do Fast

Ambulance Emergency Required

  • If you or the patient experience life-threatening symptoms such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe skin reactions (widespread hives or rash), immediately call your local emergency services (e.g., 911).

Immediate Steps to Take

  • If an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) is available and previously prescribed, use it immediately according to the instructions provided.
  • Keep the patient calm and in a safe, comfortable position. If they are having difficulty breathing, allow them to sit up; otherwise, have them lie down and elevate their legs.
  • Monitor the patient closely for any changes in breathing, consciousness, or other symptoms until help arrives.
  • Avoid giving any additional fluids, including Pedialyte, or any oral medications during the emergency unless directed by emergency personnel.

Aftercare and Monitoring

  • Once emergency responders take over, provide them with a detailed account of the incident, including how much Pedialyte was ingested and any previous history of allergies or anaphylaxis.
  • Even if symptoms begin to subside, seek medical evaluation as allergic reactions can recur or worsen unexpectedly.
  • Follow all guidance from healthcare professionals regarding further treatment or observation in the hospital.

What is Pedialyte: Overview

Pedialyte is an oral rehydration solution designed to prevent dehydration and replenish fluids and electrolytes lost due to diarrhea, vomiting, or excessive sweating. It contains a balanced mix of water, electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, and sugars to promote rapid absorption in the intestines. Originally formulated for infants and young children, Pedialyte is now widely used by people of all ages, including athletes and adults recovering from illness. It helps maintain proper hydration levels, supports electrolyte balance, and aids in faster recovery from dehydration-related conditions. Pedialyte is available in various flavors and forms, including ready-to-drink liquids, powders, and freezer pops. It is often recommended by healthcare professionals as a safe and effective way to manage mild to moderate dehydration. Unlike sports drinks, Pedialyte contains lower sugar content and a more precise electrolyte composition tailored for rehydration rather than energy replenishment. It is important to follow usage instructions and consult a healthcare provider if dehydration symptoms persist or worsen.

FAQ

How fast does the Quickie Nasal Spray work?

Most patients feel relief within 15 minutes. We have both short-term relief ingredients as well as longer-term relief to keep you feeling better, longer. Some say it’s like turning off their allergies.

What symptoms does the Nasal Spray treat?

Sneezing runny nose, nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, sinus pressure, itchy nose. Great for outdoor allergies, indoor dust, or when pollen spikes unexpectedly.

Will it cause rebound congestion like Afrin?

No, this formula uses a microdose of oxymetazoline, balanced with anti-inflammatory and moisturizing ingredients to reduce the risk of rebound congestion. Clinical studies over the last decade show that when oxymetazoline is combined with a corticosteroid, it can be used safely over the long term without causing rebound symptoms.

What’s the difference between this and over-the-counter sprays?

Quickie Spray combines up to five prescription-strength ingredients into a single, personalized formula — targeting multiple symptoms like congestion, post-nasal drip, and inflammation. OTC sprays typically address just one symptom and lack the synergy of a customized blend.

Does it have a bad taste or drip down the throat?

Some ingredients like azelastine may cause a slight taste, but many patients find it milder than traditional OTC sprays. Proper spray technique (head forward, not tilted back) helps minimize drip.We also offer an alternative formulation with olopatadine, which has a gentler taste profile and may be preferred by taste-sensitive patients.

Can I use it with my other allergy meds?

Quickie is designed to replace most other allergy medications. But it is designed to compliment allergy immunotherapy for long-term relief. If you’re currently taking other antihistamines or nasal sprays, tell your Curex provider, so we can adjust your formula to avoid overlap or interactions.

Is this FDA-approved?

No, Quickie is a personalized compounded prescription prepared by licensed U.S. pharmacies based on your doctor’s evaluation. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as commercial products, but they are regulated under federal and state pharmacy laws.

Are there any side effects?

Possible side effects include nasal dryness, mild irritation, or occasional nosebleeds. These are typically mild and manageable. Let your Curex provider know about any bothersome or serious effects, so we can fine-tune your prescription if needed.

How long should I use it for?

Quickie is safe for daily use, especially during the first 3–6 months of allergy immunotherapy, when symptoms are still active. Your Curex provider may adjust your dose or frequency as your immune system builds tolerance.

Will it make me drowsy?

Quickie is designed to be non-sedating, so you can use it before work, school, or exercise without feeling groggy or foggy. In rare cases where drowsiness is reported, let your Curex provider know—we can easily adjust the formula to better suit your needs.

Can my child use Quickie Nasal Spray?

Yes, Quickie Spray can be prescribed for children aged 6 and up, based on your provider’s clinical evaluation.

How often should I use it?

Follow the instructions from your Curex provider. Most patients are advised to use one spray per nostril, twice daily — morning and evening — for consistent relief.
